Art. 59. O Chefe de Missão Diplomática Permanente é a mais alta autoridade brasileira no país em cujo Governo está acreditado, e lhe cabe coordenar as atividades das repartições brasileiras ali sediadas, exceto as das Missões e Delegações Permanentes junto a organismos internacionais e as dos órgãos de caráter estritamente militar.
§ 1º O Chefe de Missão Diplomática residente em um Estado pode ser cumulativamente acreditado junto a Governos de Estados nos quais o País não tenha sede de representação diplomática permanente.
§ 2º Na hipótese do disposto no § 1º, podem ser designados Encarregados de Negócios ad interim residentes em cada um dos Estados onde o Chefe da Missão não tenha sua sede permanente.
